It can be a humbling experience to seek the guidance and support of a professional counselor. Choosing the right counselor can be challenging too. Psychotherapy, counseling or art therapy may be helpful if you're experiencing:
* feelings of sadness, anger or anxiety
* feelings of emotional numbness and uncertainty of how to cope
* relationship conflict, a break-up, or loss of a loved one
* strained or estranged family relationships
* painful memories of childhood abuse or traumatic experiences
* curiosity about your racial identity, development and awareness
*racial or ethnic discrimination, bias and institutionalized racism
* parenting challenges
* difficulty establishing and maintaining intimacy & trust
* feelings of low self-esteem, shame, guilt or isolation
* being a caregiver for an aging parent or ill loved one
* significant life transition
* worries about the state of our world and what the future holds
* spiritual curiosity and a desire to develop intuition, faith, grace and gratitude
* illness, lack of self-care and a desire for a healthier lifestyle that embodies self-love
* a desire to work on one's anti-racism in support of inter-racial relationships/family or one's own personal goals
* a need for psycho-education and understanding about a mental health diagnosis; yours or that of your loved one
* curiosity about inner child work, guided visualizations and other non-traditional methods of emotional healing
Who hasn't experienced one or more of these issues at one time or another? We can all benefit from having an opportunity to sort through our issues in a manner that is safe, non-judgmental, compassionate, supportive, insightful and empowering.
